Bob along on a Segway Safari for an outdoor adventure
Nestled in the Cheshire Boarders in the Peak District a mere 25 miles south of Manchester is the new activity of offroad segway. If you've never heard of Segways, they are basically electric-powered personal transporters and in groups of 4-6 your group of hens can explore the countryside having great fun into the bargain at this friendly well run site.
Your Manchester segway safari experience will vary in length depending on the size of your group. Testing your Segway riding skills to the max, the 160 acre estate is actually a privately-owned country house and working farm, so expect muddy tracks, weaving woodland paths and maybe even a few cows and sheep watching you curiously as you whizz along the tracks.
Before you head off on the segway safari, you will have a full safety briefing, be kitted out with helmet and body, knee and shin pads, be shown how the controls of your segways work and then have time to get used to moving around and manoeuvring the segways. Once you’re feeling comfortable then you’re ready for the off into the wilds of the undulating Cheshire countryside.
The Bride leads the way on the first lap of the slalom pole course followed by her bridesmaids on the other segway machines. As laps only take two minutes everyone gets a chance with the minimum of wait time whilst laughing their heads off at the others trying their best not to fall off. Once everyone has done two laps each on a slow speed the machines are set to go faster and off you go again.
After the slalom course you head over to the new assault course which includes a rope bridge and seesaw. Again everyone takes turns to do laps around the course which is more challenging but great fun. Then lastly everyone heads across to the 40 acre field for relay rally races between the woods and grassland areas of the site.
There is also a cafe on-site serving drinks and snacks as well as a picnic area and if you fancy watching something else the site is shared with a zorbing experience.
All hens must bring gloves and flat shoes with them and we suggest you wear old clothes. So long as it doesn't cause a safety issue fancy dress is welcomed.
Check out this video of the assault course circuit.
Transport to the site from Manchester is not included within the quoted price – if you would like us to assist with transport please let us know.
Note - please also bear in mind that this activity is only available between March and the start of December and weight and health restrictions apply. The minimum weight to take part is 7 stone and maximum weight allowed is 18 stone. Unfortunately pregnant hens are not allowed to take part.
